PHILADELPHIA - June 28, 2012 (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Phillies have designated right-hander Chad Qualls for assignment and called up righty Brian Sanches and lefty Jeremy Horst.
Qualls was 1-1 with a 4.60 ERA in 35 games for the Phillies. The veteran began the season with six straight scoreless appearances, but posted a 5.68 ERA in his last 29 games.
Sanches is 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA in three appearances with the Phillies this season. For Triple-A Lehigh Valley, he was 3-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 21 games. Sanches is 13-7 with a 3.71 ERA in 192 major league appearances.
Horst was 2-1 with two saves and a 2.11 ERA in 26 games in Triple-A. Lefty Joe Savery was optioned to Triple-A after Wednesday night's loss to Pittsburgh.
