Revere hopes to 'put a ring on it' with Phillies

February 18, 2013 (WPVI) -- If Oscars were given out for Best Dramatic Performance on a baseball diamond, Ben Revere would win it every single year.

He is that spectacular in the outfield.

"If I have to sacrifice my body to make a play, I'll do that. I've been that way since I was a kid," Revere said.

Revere has never hit a home run in his major league career, but that's not his job on offense - stealing 40 bases like he did last season is.

With that kind of speed, Revere would seem like a natural leadoff hitter, but Jimmy Rollins has held that spot.

J-Roll will spend a few weeks at the World Baseball Classic this spring. That will give Charlie Manuel a chance to try Revere in the number one hole.

"As long as I'm up there, it doesn't matter to me. It's up to the big boss Charlie," Revere said.

"We're going to put the best lineup on the field. Where Ben can hit, or I think he can hit, or where we think he can hit, that's where he'll be," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said.

Where Ben should not be is anywhere near a karaoke machine.

While in the minors, someone thought it would be fun to put him on the jumbotron singing a Beyonce song.

"They had the notes for it. They told me to wing it. They said 'find a song you kind of know.' I was like 'this is probably the only song I know' so that's what I did," Revere said.

As for his teammates, they had their opinions of the video.

"He's got a good voice. That's better than I can do," pitcher John Lannan said, "It's pretty good. I like it."

"That needs to be on Twitter. It needs to be on Phillies.com It's outstanding," pitcher Chad Durbin said, "I think it needs to be on one of those big screens on here really soon. You know what? He did it though. The heck with it. He got up there and did it. 9 guys out of 10 won't."

Here's one last word from the singing sensation himself:

"I'm like 'whatever.' It's done. Can't do much about it right now," Revere said.
