McMurray to drive No. 1 for Earnhardt Ganassi

Jamie McMurray was named the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing in 2010 on Wednesday.

CORAL Gables, Fla. -- Jamie McMurray was named the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing in 2010 on Wednesday.

McMurray, who lost his ride at Roush Fenway Racing when the organization had to shrink to meet NASCAR's four-car cap, has a one-year deal with options.

He will replace Martin Truex Jr., who is moving to the No. 56 Toyota at Michael Waltrip Racing.

McMurray won the job over 2000 Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte, who last weekend signed with TRG Motorsports. Bass Pro Shops will sponsor the car for about 20 races with multiple sponsors filling the remainder of the season.

It is a reunion for McMurray and co-owner Chip Ganassi. McMurray broke into NASCAR's premier series in 2002 with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and remained there through the 2005 season.

He collected his first Cup victory for Ganassi in 2002 in his second race after replacing the injured Sterling Marlin.

McMurray, 22nd in points this season, has three career wins. He won at Talladega this season.
