Man dressed as woman robs bank

CENTER CITY - January 28, 2008 (WPVI) -- The FBI is trying to catch a man dressed as a woman who robbed a bank in Center City on Sunday.

The Commerce Bank located at 3735 Walnut Street was robbed at 3:32 p.m.

The bandit is described as an African-American male, in his late 30's to early 40's, approximately 6' 1" tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a black trench coat, black shoes and a red/blonde wig. He was also carrying a purse.

Police said the robber entered the bank and presented a demand note. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the bank and ran east on Walnut Street.

The Delaware Valley Financial Security Officers Group is offering a reward of up to $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this robbery.
