GREENVILLE, Del. - September 29, 2009 (WPVI) -- The search is on for a crook who's targeting upscale neighborhoods north of Wilmington, Delaware.
The serial burglar has picked at least a half dozen well-manicured homes
The Cammock's place in Hockessin was robbed Monday morning. The couple lives in a development called Wyndom.
"When I went upstairs, I seen everything thrown on the bed. They get inside the drawers, computer missing, things like that," said robbery victim Leslie Cammock.
Also stolen were Iola Cammock's massive collection of jewelry and sentimental trinkets.
"My special pieces I bought 30 years ago, 40 years ago, you keep adding to it. So I'm really ticked off they would take so many things I liked so much," she said.
Investigators say, in most cases, the burglar hasn't worked hard to break in, usually entering through open doors and windows.
That's why police are urging residents to lock up their homes and vehicles.
The Cammocks say they'll invest in a security system. However, police say there is one other, less expensive way, to protect your property.
"What we want is for people to be nosy neighbors. We know that, in a couple of cases, people saw suspicious cars or persons in the community and called 911," said Cpl. Trinidad Navarro of the New Castle County Police.
So far all of the homes that have been burglarized were unoccupied, leading police to believe the serial burglar watches the homes, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
