A Memorable Feat

Friday, September 21, 2007

One man has honored our nation's legacy by memorizing the entire Constitution.

T.S. Grant, a former middle school teacher in Baltimore, decided to undertake the task because he wanted people to appreciate "this incredible document".

He recited it from memory at a noon time ceremony at the National Constitution Center as the highlight of the birthday of the document.

It takes him roughly an hour to get through the 7 thousand 8 hundred word text and is an accomplishment that not even the founding fathers could have equalled.

In fact, he says the closest anyone has come is former Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, who as a teenager, was repeatedly given the constitution to read as punishment by the headmaster of his school. So many times, he claimed, he almost had it memorized. Almost.

T.S. Grant has gone beyond "almost" and dazzles all who witness his memorization skill... Especially those who have trouble remembering their ATM passwords.
