June 22, 2013 (WPVI) -- Don't throw away your old bulbs, it only takes a bright idea to come up with an alternative to throwing them away!
How about a lightbulb bud vase?
All you need is a clear incandescent lightbulb. Don't use the florescent or white coated bulb. Some pliers, and a wire coat hanger.
Make sure you wear safety glasses and gloves since we are working with glass.
First, remove the little silver disc on the bottom of the lightbulb with your pliers.
Next, remove the black glass cap by working the tip of the pliers into the hole to snap it.
You may want to work over a paper bag to catch the glass.
Remove the inside parts of the bulb so that its empty.
To make a stand for your bulb, cut the hook off a wire coat hanger and straighten it out.
Now bend it into 5 equal sections, make three into a triangle base, one for the upright and the last to bend around the lightbulb&
To hang it on a hook, just twist some wire around the bulb and make the other end a loop to hang it from!
Thats all there is to it! Cute and inexpensive. I'm Mrs Fixit and it's just that simple!
