SEPTA Service Returning to Normal

Friday, April 21, 2006

Service on SEPTA's subway lines in Philadelphia is back to normal -- with the exception of the subway-surface trolley lines.

Service had been disrupted by a fire in a transformer room at 15th and Market streets.

SEPTA spokesman Richard Maloney says the Broad Street subway and Market-Frankford subway-elevated line are both in operation.

Subway-surface trolleys continue to stop at 40th Street because of fire-damaged signals.

SEPTA says the fire began around 1:30 this morning. The cause is not yet known.
