A truckload of butter caused delays on the Pennsylvania Turnpike today.

A tractor trailer carrying butter overturned on the Northeast Extension southbound ramp to the eastbound Turnpike in Plymouth Township.

The crash was reported to Pennsylvania State Police around 10:20 Tuesday morning.

State police say the truck was carrying 43-thousand pounds of butter, and some of the butter spilled onto the roadway.

Traffic was getting by on the shoulder, but the delays continued throughout the afternoon as crews cleaned up the mess.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

No word yet from police what caused the crash.
