TODAY: The storm center that brought us precipitation yesterday has departed into New England. But it's intensifying. We'll feel the effects as very strong winds will whip around the west side of the low pressure center and rifle down into our area all day and night. Look for sustained winds of 15-30 and more importantly, gusts up to around 50! The temperature has managed to bounce up overnight, ahead of a passing cold front that brought us the last of our main precipitation. Cold air behind the front will be slightly delayed. Look for temperatures to climb to about 48 in Philadelphia by noon, before dropping back to the low to mid 40s by dinner time. We'll see some sun later on, but at best, we expect partly cloudy skies.
WIND ADVISORY: The advisory is posted across the entire region until 1am Tuesday. Between now and then, gusty winds will be strong enough to put debris in the roads. Tree branches, or perhaps a few whole trees could fall today or tonight. Be careful walking or driving. It would also be a good idea to secure trash cans and other outdoor items that can be moved around by strong winds.
WEDNESDAY: A so-called "Alberta clipper" will knife through our region, bringing lots of clouds and a reinforcing shot of cold air. Expect a high of only 36 degrees. We also have a chance of flurries, or even some snow showers. But these clippers are typically fast moving and moisture-starved and usually do not generate much if any accumulation. In this case, we are NOT forecasting accumulating snow.
THURSDAY: We will finally see a day with plenty of sunshine, but temperatures remain on the cold side with a high of only 38 degrees. This is well below the average high of 47.
FRIDAY: Yet another weak system approaches, perhaps giving us a shower or a snow shower through the day. But highs will reach 35 to 40 or so, from outlying areas to center city. THE WEEKEND: The early indications are for a dry, moderate weekend with highs in the 40s. Stay tuned. (Copyright 2007 by Action News and . All Rights Reserved.)(Copyright ©2009 WPVI-TV/DT.
