November 23, 2009 (WPVI) -- A coastal low is pushing clouds into the region this morning, and showers will arrive this afternoon. It will be very windy with gusts into the mid 20s. The high: a cool 53.
TONIGHT: The low is weak and remains far away from us as it shoots to the northeast, and that means light to moderate showers overnight. The low beneath the stubborn clouds will remain fairly mild for this time of year: 47.
TUESDAY: The low pulls away, the winds die down, and after some lingering morning showers, we dry out. Unfortunately, there will still be a lot of wrap-around cloud cover riding into the region and we expect very little, if any, sun. The high: around 58.
WEDNESDAY: The first system departs, but another system approaches from the west. In between, we see mostly cloudy skies, with another round of showers by nightfall. the high: 59. In general, it looks like a decent day for travel, in case you're traveling for the holiday, or you have relatives arriving from out of town.
THURSDAY: Thanksgiving is looking mainly cloudy, but the high will be 58, which is about 6 degrees above average. While there could be a shower around early in the morning, the rest of the day looks dry. There's a very good chance that the 6abc/IKEA Thanksgiving Day Parade remains dry, but you'll want to keep your eyes on the AccuWeather forecast this week, and Storm Tracker 6 Live radar that morning, just to make sure those early showers are over. Temperatures during the parade will be in the mid 40s early, improving to about 52 to 54 by the parade's end. It could be a bit breezy.
FRIDAY: It will remain cloudy and breezy, for the most part, and some more showers are possible. It will be cooler, too, with a high of only about 50. You may run into some rain as you're driving around to the malls on Black Friday. If you're planning on standing in line in the early morning hours to take advantage of some of those steep discounts, check Storm Tracker 6 Live on 6abc.com before you go, to make sure it's not raining. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to bring along a water-resistant poncho, no matter what. Sunrise temperatures, by the way, are going to be in the low to mid 40s.
THE WEEKEND: It looks dry by chilly with highs in the upper 40s in Philadelphia on both Saturday and Sunday.
