Gerrick Brenner has been a news reporter with Eyewitness News since January of 2006.

He came to the Triangle from KFSN-TV, another ABC -owned station in Fresno, California. While at KFSN, Gerrick worked as a City Hall beat reporter. He found stories on Fresno's most notorious slum lord building a mansion with a walk-in safe, red light cameras placed at intersections without previous red light car collisions, hundreds of city speeding tickets written on Fresno streets where the posted speed limit did not conform to city ordinance and state law, and illegal fireworks coming to California from retail stores in Nevada, which also violated fireworks laws in Nevada.

Gerrick has also worked as a television news reporter in El Paso, Texas, Billings, Montana and Medford, Oregon. Before working in broadcast journalism, Gerrick graduated with "distinction" from the now defunct Brinkman-Froemming Umpire School in Cocoa, Florida, where he learned "When in doubt, call 'em out." He spent one season as a minor league baseball umpire in Florida's Gulf Coast League. He was born in Boston and raised in Los Angeles. He's a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in History.

Gerrick and his wife Leonor live in downtown Raleigh. They were recently married in Cartagena, Colombia.
