Frances Scott was born in Agana, Guam, but North Carolina is where she spent all of her childhood and most of her adult life. She currently anchors Eyewitness News at 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. with Tisha Powell.
After receiving bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Virginia Tech, Frances began her career working for a National Public Radio affiliate, but continued her reporting career in television, working for WDBJ, WSLS, WJPR and WSET, all based in the Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia area.
Frances came home to North Carolina in 1998, when she was offered a job working at ABC11. She covered Hurricanes Bertha, Dennis, and Floyd, the 20-inch snowstorm in 1999, the massive ice storm of 2003, the NCAA National Championship wins of the basketball teams at UNC and Duke, and the Carolina Hurricanes' run to the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals. Her years at ABC11 offered the chance to win a Midsouth Regional Emmy for Live Reporting in the Field and a Midsouth Regional Emmy Nomination for a feature story about basset hounds called "Bent for Bassets."
In late 2005, Frances left the TV news industry to spend more time working for her twin toddlers, newborn baby, and husband, but returned to full-time news and ABC11 four years later.
Her passions include gardening, animals, and covering uplifting stories of local interest. She lives in Raleigh with her husband (a Texan), their three children, a fish and a turtle.
Stay in touch with Frances through her ABC11 blog at "Moms On The Go".
