From the Coast of Carolina to the Heart of Central Virginia and then to the Mountains of Utah, this reporter has been all over the country telling stories that need to be told.
Kelli O'Hara joins ABC11's I-Team with great pride; finally finding her calling the past few years by digging and uncovering the stories viewers need to know.
Before Raleigh-Durham, Kelli was an investigative reporter at KTVX in Salt Lake City where she won an award from City Weekly Magazine for being the state's "Toughest Reporter". There, Kelli gained notoriety by corresponding with a mother accused of torturing and killing her 4-year-old son and uncovering cases where child abuse victims were given back to their abusers by the state.
Before television, Kelli taught history to troubled youth in Boston. It's there, where her passion for helping people and telling stories evolved. However, Kelli's greatest memory is her solo-backpacking trip through Eastern Europe and the Middle East after college and then teaching English in a rural coal mining village in Poland.
Kelli is a member of IRE (Investigative Reporters & Editors) and the recipient of several Associated Press Awards. She earned a Master's Degree from Boston University and her Bachelor's Degree from Mount Holyoke College.
When Kelli isn't working she's dreaming of the next big story along with trying to find a life outside of work so if you have any suggestions, feel free to send them her way!
