Pedestrian hit in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, NC (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a man was hurt after he was hit by a vehicle on NC 210 in Smithfield Thursday morning.

Investigators reported the man - who is hearing impaired - was wearing dark clothing and attempted to cross the highway when he was hit by a pickup truck.

The man suffered injuries to his right leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Troopers said the driver will not be charged.
