Anna Nicole Smith Suffers Memory Loss

NASSAU, Bahamas, September 14, 2006 -- Anna Nicole Smith was so devastated by the death of her son that she needed drugs to calm her.

And later she had memory loss, not remembering Daniel Smith's death. That's what her lawyer in the Bahamas says. Michael Scott says, "Anna Nicole was so distraught at the loss of Daniel that she refused to leave his side and it was necessary to sedate her in order to check her out of the hospital."

Scott says a third person in Smith's hospital room the night Daniel stayed with her was her lawyer and friend, Howard K. Stern. A coroner's official says Daniel Smith's death is "suspicious."

A formal inquiry set for next month could lead to criminal charges.
