Holiday Tree and Trash Recycle Sites and Schedules

(01/02/07) (WTVD) -- The holidays are over and you are sitting with piles of cardboard boxes and other trash/recyclables including your Christmas tree, wondering where you can take it all. Here's a list of collection schedules for cities and counties around the Heart of Carolina to help you clean house and move on to the New Year.

WAKE COUNTY

Wake County residents can recycle holiday waste for more than three weeks after Christmas during the Solid Waste Division's 13th annual "Holiday Wrap-Up" event. Items such as wrapping paper, trees, gift boxes and greeting cards can be dropped off for recycling at the five Convenience Centers listed below, beginning December 26 through January 15, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Convenience Centers will be closed one-half day on Christmas Eve and all day for Christmas.

Christmas trees also will be collected at three Wake County parks during normal hours:

Blue Jay Point County Park, 3200 Pleasant Union Church Road - Raleigh
Harris Lake County Park, 2112 County Park Drive - New Hill
Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway - Morrisville

DURHAM COUNTY

Trees will be picked up curbside in the city of Durham from Jan. 3 to 31. Residents who typically have garbage collected today will have trash picked up Wednesday instead.

Christmas trees will be taken at no charge through Jan. 31 at 2115 E. Club Blvd. from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
