Federal investigators have charged a former Marine with thretening the President before he took office.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Raleigh said a federal grand jury had returned an indictment against 20-year-old Kody Brittingham Wednesday.

Brittingham was administratively separated from the Marine Corps on Jan. 3, following a December arrest.

He is accused of robbing a Jacksonville hotel and remains in a Onslow County jail on those charges.

The Marine Corps said Brittingham was a lance corporal who joined the Marine Corps in July 2007.

He never deployed with the Marines.
