RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Brad Cooper has agreed to give his wife's family essentially all the money he has to cover child support.
Cooper is the Cary man charged in the death of his wife, Nancy, who was found strangled in a unfinished Cary subdivision last July.
He initially told police his wife went jogging and never returned. Her body was discovered near the couple's home by a man walking his dog.
Cooper was charged in October, four months after her body was discovered.
Nancy Cooper's sister in Canada has custody of the couple two little girls, along with Nancy's parents. In an agreement reached Monday morning, Cooper agreed to give the family a little more than $8,600.
The money comes from his final check from his former employer, Cisco Systems.
He only kept enough to cover taxes on a 401K loan he had taken out.
Last month, Cooper's current attorney Howard Kurtz requested more legal help for the 35-year-old.
Kurtz told the judge that because of the volume of material in case, Cooper feels an additional attorney would be useful.
Cooper will not face the death penalty in the case.
