Interact

An organization that helps women in their most desperate time of need is expanding.

Interact helps victims of rape and domestic violence. And they say more women are reaching out for help now.

Interact celebrated its new family safety and empowerment center Wednesday evening in Raleigh. Thursday is its official grand opening. The center will help provide more services to victims and survivors.

Volunteers say their services can be a difference maker.

"I was raped on a college campus when I was 20 and I received assistance from a rape crisis center," April Jenkins said. "When I moved here to North Carolina, I thought it was important to volunteer and share my story."

The new facility also has a top of the line security system to make clients feel safer.

Interact served more than 36,000 people last year.
