Police said a Spring Lake restaurant owner was hurt in a shooting Wednesday night.

Cumberland County spokesperson Debbie Tanna said authorities were called to Mandarin Wok in the Skyland Shopping Center around 8 p.m.

Authorities said they believed the shooting was an attempted armed robbery.

The owner, Xiao Zhang, told detectives he was sitting in the dining room of the business when shots were fired.

A waitress said she heard a popping noise and noticed Zhang had been injured.

It appeared his head was grazed by a bullet.

Police said Zhang was alert and conscious and walking around the restaurant when they arrived.

Zhang was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he is being treated for the injury. His condition is not known at this time.

Detectives are continuing to investigate.
