SELMA, NC (WTVD) -- A Johnston County woman is accused of setting her car on fire instead of letting the repo man take it.
Selma police say when employees of a Raleigh recovery firm tried to load Latonia Monroe Myers Nissan Maxima onto a wrecker, she got in and tried to drive it off - putting a hole in the gas tank in the process.
Officers say she then went inside her home, got a lighter, and came back and set the leaking gasoline on fire.
The car burst into flames with one of the repo workers inside. As he got out, Myers allegedly tried to hold the door closed.
The worker escaped with a minor burn on his arm.
Police have now charged Myers with felony burning personal property and felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Her car was destroyed by the fire.
She was being held in the Johnston County jail on $60,000 bond.
