Fort Bragg deployed four civilian firefighters to Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico Sunday morning to assist their fire department in fighting a massive explosion at a petroleum, oil and lubricate facility near the Army installation.

Fort Buchanan has sustained major damage from a massive explosion at a POL facility outside the garrison. The post only has a single fire engine department and their firefighting staff have all been recalled to fight the fire, but they have asked for assistance.

The four firefighters from Fort Bragg are Donald Ramsey, Kevin Durham, David Coleman and Trent Strayer. Ten firefighters from Fort Bragg's fire department volunteered, but only four will deploy in order to ensure Fort Bragg's department will be able to continue to meet its mission.

The firefighters are expected to be at Fort Buchanan for five to seven days.
