A UNC student is recovering after being hit by a falling tree.

It fell near the corner of McCauley and South Columbia. That's close to the UNC School of Medicine and the Health Sciences Library.

The entire root ball came out of the ground.

We are told a female student was walking on campus and was hit by the tree when it came down.

She was taken to UNC Hospitals. Amazingly, her injuries were not considered serious.
