Melissa Jo Bullock-Godfrey, 26, was killed along with her 5-year-old daughter Georgia Leigh and 4-year-old son John Wyatt.
GRANVILLE COUNTY (WTVD) -- A mother and her two small children were killed in a car crash Wednesday night in Granville County.
It happened just before 10 p.m. on Mays Store Rd. near Franklinton.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Melissa Jo Bullock of Louisburg, along with her 5-year-old daughter Georgia Leigh and 4-year-old son John Wyatt, all died at the scene of the wreck around 9:40 p.m.
Troopers say Bullock lost control of her car near state Highway 96, ran off the road, overcorrected, struck a ditch and flipped into a tree.
No other vehicles were involved.
Melissa's mother told ABC11 Eyewitness News in an email statement that her daughter was a good, kind, and loving person.
"She was a great mother and wife to her family. She was very proud of her children and husband. She was greatly loved by family and friends she will be deeply missed," read the statement.
The family said Georgia was a student at Lousiburg Elementary School.
"She was a bright and happy little girl. She loved horses and liked to trail ride with her parents and brother. [She] loved playing at the beach. She lit up the room," read the statement.
"Wyatt was sweet, loving, and always smiling. He enjoyed horses and hunting with his father. He was full of questions always wanting to know and learn more about anything and everything. [He] also loved playing at the beach."
The family asked everyone to keep Melissa's husband John in their prayers and described him as "devastated" by the tragedy.
