Two Marines killed in Afghanistan

The Marine Corps said Friday that two Camp Lejeune based Marines died Wednesday fighting in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Sgt. Joshua D. Desforges, 23, of Ludlow, Mass was a squad leader assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward. He joined the Marine Corps in September 2004.

Sgt. Donald J. Lamar II, 23, of Fredericksburg, Va. was a scout sniper team leader assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 2, I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward. He joined the Marine Corps in January 2006.

He is survived by his wife.

Details of the men's deaths were not released.
