Triangle schools rank among Newsweek's best

Newsweek Magazine is out with its national ranking of what it considers the top high schools in the country and 14 Triangle area schools make the list.

Newsweek ranks schools using a ratio that takes the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school, and divides it by the number of graduating seniors.

According to Newsweek, all of the schools on the list have an index of at least 1.000 - putting them in the top 6 percent of public schools measured this way.

Here are Newsweek's top Triangle area schools:

  1. 42 Raleigh Charter Raleigh
  2. 107 Woods Charter Chapel Hill
  3. 118 East Chapel Hill Chapel Hill
  4. 127 Enloe Raleigh
  5. 214 Chapel Hill Chapel Hill
  6. 251 Durham School of the Arts Durham
  7. 300 Needham Broughton Raleigh
  8. 415 Jordan Durham
  9. 458 Green Hope Morrisville
  10. 486 Pinecrest Southern Pines
  11. 839 Riverside Durham
  12. 1056 Northern Durham
  13. 1136 Wakefield Raleigh
  14. 1547 Northwood Pittsboro
