Janet Abaroa's family says her husband has reneged on an agreement to allow authorities to exhume her body from her final resting place in Pennsylvania.

Last month, Durham police said they'd asked the family for permission to examine Janet Abaroa's remains for more evidence in her murder. The Christiansen family said it had agreed and said it believed her husband Raven Abaroa had agreed too.

Raven Abaroa faces first-degree murder charges. Authorities extradited him from Idaho on February 26.

Janet was found stabbed to death in the couple's Durham home in 2005. She was pregnant at the time of her death.

Their son, who was 6 months old at the time, was found unharmed, sleeping in a room next to where Janet's body was found.

Raven Abaroa has denied involvement in her death and says he was at a soccer game the night of his wife's murder.

Now that Raven has refused to sign an order of court consent for the exhumation, the Christiansen family said in a statement Thursday that the process will now likely take months instead of weeks. It says it will appear in court in Pennsylvania to ask a judge to move forward with the investigation.
