ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC (WTVD) -- A Halifax County band teacher charged with showing a pornographic video to his class is out of jail and awaiting his next court appearance.
Archie McLeod III is facing 11 counts of disseminating obscene material to minors under the age of 16 after allegedly showing porn to students at William R. Davie Middle School on his laptop Monday.
The incident was brought to authorities' attention after a mother called police when her 13-year-old son showed her cell phone video of the incident.

The student who took the video says it wasn't the first time he'd been shown porn videos in class.
School leaders say they are apologizing to parents for the incident. The said Wednesday that they sent out a recorded message explaining why the middle school failed to notify parents Tuesday before the incident made the news.
A spokesperson with Halifax County Schools said McLeod, 51, is on unpaid suspension while the Halifax County Sheriff's Office conducts an investigation.
McLeod declined ABC11 Eyewitness News' request for an interview Wednesday, saying he needed to consult with his attorney. But he did speak out on a popular social networking site.
On Wednesday morning he took to Facebook to share his outlook on the situation.
- To all my FB family. I want to thank all of you for your support of me during this most trying in my life. To all my students colleagues and friends. You know what I've stood for in my life. You know the positive things I have instilled in you all with my teaching. Those things are embedded in your heart. I have faith in God and know that he will bring us through. God will have the victory.
Still some parents say they aren't buying what McLeod was teaching.
"He looked like he didn't care," said the mother of the boy who shot the cell phone video. "I mean he saw (my son) recording him and he pretty much throws his hand up and turns around and keeps watching. It makes me mad, I mean just to know that I send him to school to learn, to get an education and he's here watching porn with his teacher."
However, some of McLeod's supporters say he embodies what the school represents --character. They believe there is more to the story.
McLeod's bond was set for $40,000, but he bonded out of jail Wednesday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 22.
According to a bio on the Davie Middle website, McLeod is from Fayetteville. He got a graduate degree at North Carolina Central University.
