Saturday, March 12, 2011

A Johnston County man is recovering from a gunshot wound, after police say he was hit in a drive-by shooting.

According to Chief Glen Allen of the Clayton Police Department, Rashieve Dashawn Ray, 18, was found near the 800 block of East Main Street with a gunshot wound to his lower leg/ankle area around 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Ray told officers he and another person were walking in the area when someone in a passing car fired a pistol at him. He and the other person ran away and the car left.

Ray was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non life-threatening injury.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small, dark gray, four-door car with tinted windows, possibly a Mitsubishi. The shooter was described as a black male with "box braids" hair. The vehicle was said to be occupied by at least four black males. A motive is unknown, but detectives are continuing the investigation.
