DURHAM (WTVD) -- Nine men have been arrested after a months-long narcotics investigation by the Durham County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said most of the individuals lived in, or frequented the Walltown neighborhood of north Durham. According to officials, the investigation targeted violent, repeat offenders -- many of whom are known gang members.
Over the four-month-long investigation, officials seized two illegal firearms, two vehicles, one gram of heroin, 43 grams of crack cocaine, 20 grams of marijuana, and $3,998.
Those arrested are:
Jerry Lamont Powell, 30, was arrested Tuesday and is being held under a $600,000 bond. Powell is charged with four counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute marijuana; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; four counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a school or park; one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Caleb Cornelius Green, 32, was arrested Tuesday and is being held under a $450,000 bond. Green is charged with four counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; four counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a school or park; and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Reginald Dale Cadlett, 29, was arrested Wednesday and is being held under a $300,000 bond. Cadlett is charged with three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; three counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a school or park; and three counts of habitual felon.
Salaam Muhammad Adams III, 19, was arrested Tuesday and is being held under a $2 million bond. Adams is charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; two counts of selling crack cocaine; and two counts of delivering crack cocaine.
Brian Jones, 30, was arrested Tuesday and is being held under a $200,000 bond. Jones is charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; two counts of selling crack cocaine; two counts of delivering crack cocaine; one count of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine.
Shaking Fisher, 33, was arrested Wednesday and is being held under a $305,000 bond. Fisher is charged with three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; three counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine; and three counts of selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a school or park.
John Benjamin Liles III, 42, was arrested Tuesday and is being held under a $300,000 bond. Liles is charged with three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; and three counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine.
Quinton Tyrell Lester, 24, was arrested April 2 and is being held under a $2.8 million bond. Lester is charged with three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; three counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine; and one count of selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a school or park.
John Marcus Tarver, 23, was arrested Wednesday and is being held under a $200,000 bond. Tarver is charged with three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute crack cocaine; three counts of selling crack cocaine; three counts of delivering crack cocaine; three counts of maintaining a vehicle or place for selling crack cocaine; and three counts of selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a school or park.
The investigation and arrests were a joint effort involving the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team, the Sheriff's Warrant Squad, the FBI, the SBI, and the North Carolina National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, and the Durham County District Attorney's Office.
Investigators say more arrests related to this investigation are likely.
