DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- An assistant manager at a Durham Blockbuster store was shot as he was opening the store, according to police.
An eyewitness told ABC11 that she came to the store on North Duke Street Saturday morning to rent a movie. She said when she pulled up to the store law enforcement officials were arriving on the scene.
Police said the victim was shot in the abdomen and wrist as he was getting into his car around 9:30 a.m. He was also robbed of the store's bank deposit bag.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Duke University Hospital with serious injuries
Officials are searching for suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (919) 683-1200.
The store remained closed Saturday while police continue their investigation.
