CARRBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Officials have arrested a man in connection with a hazardous materials situation Friday night in Carrboro.
About 20 apartments at the Carolina Apartment complex off N.C. Highway 54 had to be evacuated after chemicals were found outside around 8:30 p.m.
Officials said a man was mixing the chemicals. Officers charged 29-year-old Jeffrey Hayes with attempt of making methamphetamine. He is also charged with possession with intent to sell, having drug paraphernalia and a probation violation.
Hayes was given a $10,000 bond.
The scene cleared around 1 a.m. Saturday. There were no reports of any injuries, and residents were allowed back into their homes.
