Fort Bragg remains spark thoughts of Bordeaux

FORT BRAGG (WTVD) -- Remains found on Fort Bragg Tuesday are raising questions about missing soldier Kelli Bordeaux.

The remains were found on the post and have now been sent off for identification. So far, there is no word if those remains are human or not.

"We want answers," said Olivia Cox, Bordeaux's sister. "So, you hear it and the first thing is, 'Is it Kelli?'"

It is a spark of hope in what's been seven months of hopelessness. Cox said her family isn't giving up.

"Our dedication hasn't changed and we are still doing everything we can," said Cox.

Bordeaux disappeared April 13, after leaving a Fayetteville night club. Initially, hundreds turned out to help search for the missing Fort Bragg solider, but as more and more searches came up empty, interest waned. Now, there are no longer organized weekend searches. However, Cox said her family appreciates the effort.

"What the volunteer searches did was an amazing thing, and their dedication and strength really gave us a lot of hope," said Cox.

Kelli's sister keeps that flame of hope alive with updates and new pictures on a Facebook page called "Find Kelli." She is also working to have billboards put up with Kelli's picture. She said the family has one holiday wish this year.

"On top of Thanksgiving and Christmas, Kelli's birthday is two days after Christmas," said Cox. "She still needs us. She needs everyone to be on the lookout. It could bring Kelli home. She could be home for her birthday."

There is no word on when the remains will be identified. That means, for now, Bordeaux's family can only wait and continue to hope.
