Armed Forces Salute: Operation toy drop (WTVD Photo)
FORT BRAGG (WTVD) -- Hundreds of gifts are dropped in large boxes during Operation Toy Drop on post every year.
While the event is held to put smiles on the faces of children during the holidays, it's also a big moment for the Fort Bragg paratroopers.
On Friday, soldiers anxiously waited for their number to be drawn for a slot in Saturday's big airborne operation.
The jump operation runs until Saturday afternoon followed by a ceremony where the paratroopers receive their foreign airborne wings.
The thousands of toys donated yesterday will be passed out to children at Fort Bragg and the surrounding communities.
