FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville's interim police chief was back on the job Friday after accidentally getting shot in the hand.
Officials told ABC11 that Fayetteville Police Department Interim Chief Katherine Bryant accidentally shot herself in her hand at her home over the holidays.
Details surrounding the incident have not been released, but the accident reportedly did not happen with her police issued weapon. No one else was hurt.
Bryant was out of the office while she received medical attention.
Officials said she will remain interim chief until a permanent chief is hired.
Bryant was appointed interim police chief in June after then-police chief Tom Bergamine announced his retirement. Bryant has served with the Fayetteville Police Department for more than 25 years.
