Garner shooting treated as double murder

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

Crime scene investigators returned to a home the 700 block of Colonial Drive Monday as detectives with the Wake County Sheriff's Office continue to look for clues in a shooting that they're treating as a double murder.

Officers were first called to the home around 12:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

Inside the home, deputies found Jose Samuel Flores Mendoza and Maria Saravia Mendoza, both 34, shot to death.

The couple's two children - aged 3 and 12 - were not hurt. Both are now in the care of family members.

The couple worked at the Golden Corral on Grenelle Street in Raleigh. The manager told ABC11 this weekend that they are working to set up a fund to help support the children.
