Cary police are asking for the public's help to nab a suspect who they say stole money from two businesses.

The incidents happened on the afternoon of Friday, July 26.

A cash register at the Walgreens at 1210 Kildaire Farm Road was cleaned out of money. About an hour later, the same thing happened at the Exxon gas station at 1720 Walnut Street.

The suspect is described as a white male of average build wearing sunglasses, a dark-colored polo shirt, cargo shorts and white socks with sandals. He was seen leaving one crime scene in a white vehicle that appears to be a Chevy HHR.

"It's a very serious and special concern for us whenever larcenies occur in the middle of the day when businesses may be full of customers," said Capt. Don Hamilton, Criminal Investigations Unit. "We hope these incidents remind retail store managers to be extra vigilant while conducting their normal operations."

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 226-CRIME.
