COATS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man working on a 200 foot tall cell phone tower fell to his death.
It happened in the 1200 block of N.C. Highway 55 East, which is just south of Coats.
Authorities say 49-year-old John Dailey, of Silvester, Ga., was killed when he fell from the tower Monday around 5:20 p.m.
They say Dailey was 200 feet from the ground when he lost his balance while attempting to hook a carabiner to the tower.
Dailey was an employee of Transmit PM LLC of Duxbury, Mass.
Dailey's body was transported to Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.
A resident who lives nearby told ABC11 that he had seen workers on the tower for several days.
