Accident causes traffic problems in RTP

Tuesday, November 05, 2013

Durham Police and EMS crews were called to the Research Triangle Park area early Tuesday morning after an 18-wheeler collided with a car.

It happened just before 5:30 a.m. on TW Alexander Drive in front of the entrance to IBM.

There was no immediate word on injuries.

Witnesses at the scene told ABC11 that they saw long tire marks on the road, but it was unclear how the accident happened.

At one point, both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane were closed and traffic along NC 147 East was being rerouted as authorities worked to clear the scene.
