Student charged with sex offense at school

A Harnett County high school student has been charged with sexually assaulting another student while at the school.

Deputies responded to a reported sexual assault at Overhills High School on Wednesday around 5 p.m. Officials determined that an incident happened in a wooded area behind the soccer field between two students.

After an investigation, deputies arrested 17-year-old Jyreece Deshawn Heck, of Spring Lake. Heck is charged with second-degree sexual offense and is being held in the Harnett County Jail under a $20,000 bond. Officials said additional charges may be filed.
