Arrest made in Chappell Drive shooting

Raleigh police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that happened near North Carolina State University's campus Thursday night.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Chappell Drive, off Avent Ferry Road.

According to authorities, officers were called to the scene about a breaking and entering in progress. When they arrived, police found 26-year-old Jamelle Leshaea Williams suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to WakeMed with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police say the shooting stemmed from a robbery that occurred inside of a home.

Sean Melvin, 26, is facing felony assault and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges in connection with the case.
