Famous NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte is best known for his speed on a high-banked oval, but now he's hoping to raise some money for being fast on his feet.

Labonte says he's running the upcoming Thunder Road Half Marathon to raise awareness for the Triad Holiday Challenge Food Drive. The race is December 12 in Charlotte.

A half marathon is 13.1 miles - a lot shorter than a NASCAR race, but Labonte will have to count on his own engine this time.

He's asking fans to support him by going to www.BobbyLabonteFoundation.org and making a donation.

Those who give $20 or more will receive a replica T-shirt of the jersey Labonte will wear during the half marathon and be recognized at the Bobby Labonte Foundation website. There are autographed T-shirts for those donating $100 or more.

Fans can also drop off food donations at the sites listed.
