Mavs guard Beaubois has second foot surgery
Mavs guard Rodrigue Beaubois had foot surgery and is expected to be out two to three months.
Dallas Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois, who re-injured his troublesome left foot in the regular season finale, had surgery and will be out two to three months. The team released a statement saying the surgery addressed lingering symptoms from the fracture he suffered last summer. The team said the procedure was successful and Beaubois is expected to make a full recovery. The story was first reported by the French-language website sports.fr.
Beaubois, 23, played in only 28 games this season after fracturing the left foot while preparing for the 2010 World Championships with the French national team and having surgery. In the season finale, however, he sprained the same foot and didn't make it onto the floor during the playoffs despite being active.
The Mavericks had high hopes that the second-year guard would be a starter after a strong finish to his rookie campaign.
Beaubois said at the end of May that getting his foot healthy would be his top priority this offseason.
"This summer is going to be very important for me," Beaubois said. "I first have to recover from my foot injury because I am still not 100 percent. I have a lot of work to do and just want to be ready to come back at 100 percent. Right now, I just support my teammates and if they call me and want me to play I am going to give everything. It is the last step, so I have to forget about my foot and just go out there."
