Linebacker Brian Banks will take part in a three-day rookie minicamp with the San Francisco 49ers, beginning Monday.A source confirmed to ESPN.com's John Clayton that Banks was receiving the tryout, which had been earlier reported by the Sacramento Bee. The 26-year-old Banks was a one-time high school star at Long Beach Poly who was recently exonerated in a California rape case in which he was falsely accused. Banks served more than five years in prison before his conviction was overturned. Banks had a two-day tryout with the Seattle Seahawks last week but left without a contract. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the team wasn't ready to offer him a contract at this point, but he and the coaching staff were impressed and surprised in how well he did at middle linebacker. Carroll recruited Banks when he was coach at Southern California. Banks has also worked out for the San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. Information from ESPN.com's John Clayton and The Associated Press was used in this report.
