Greg Laurie's Harvest Crusade Wraps Up

Sunday, June 24, 2007

Thousands converged on the RBC Center for a religious experience with Pastor Greg Laurie.

The three-day Triangle Harvest Crusade wrapped up Sunday night. Teens and young adults lined up for hours before the third night of the evangelical outreach event. Some waited in the arena parking lot, and set up the line similar to a tailgate party before a Sunday football game. But this time the event was free and it was about religious faith.

Laurie's Christian Outreach Program traveled to N.C. from Southern California. Organizers say they want people to feel comfortable knowing they won't hear a message that's confrontational. John Collins with Harvest Ministries explains, "We encourage people to come out who are skeptical. We just asking people to come out and take a reasonable... that's all we're asking."

Over 10,000 people showed up for the Harvest on Friday and 14,000 arrived at the RBC Center on Saturday. Local Christians are impressed with so many repeat customers over the weekend.

Many of those who came out say they are drawn to the low-key message of faith mixed with some everyday humor.
