Billboard Request Help in Nielsen Murder

(09/25/07 -- RALEIGH) (WTVD) -- The unsolved murder case of a pregnant Wake County mother is getting a big boost. A giant billboard of Jenna Nielsen was installed Tuesday morning in Raleigh. It's hoped the billboard will generate new leads in the murder investigation.

With the unveiling of the billboard above Wilmington Street in Raleigh, Nielsen's family and friends have high hope that the message on display will help police catch her killer.

Lorann Blaine is Jenna's mother. "No one should have to go through what we've gone through, and everyone should remember that that guy, or girl, or whoever, is still out there!"

Jenna Nielsen was 8-months pregnant when she was stabbed to death outside a Raleigh convenience store. The mother of two was delivering newspapers when she was attacked. "My oldest, Skyler..says he misses his mommy. What do you say to that? That he'll see her, someday, and she'll always be here with you," said Tim Nielsen, Jenna's husband.

The family is glad that America's Most Wanted and Fairway Advertising made the space available for the huge ad. Kevin Blaine said, "We were looking for a good location that was near the crime scene."

Raleigh Police Maj. Ken Mathias hopes the conspicuous sign will bring results. "The more tips we'll get... we're confident will yield a solution in this case."

Jenna's mother hopes an arrest comes soon. "I just want 'em off the streets. ''Cause no matter what I do, it's not gonna bring her back and it's not gonna bring Ethan back," Lorann said.
