My first job in the business was at WHIZ in Zanesville, Ohio. In Zanesville I reported both for television and radio. I had the opportunity to do just about everything, from shooting to producing to anchoring. The move to Zanesville was an easy one since I had already spent four years in Southeast Ohio. I graduated with honors from Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in November of 2005. In college I reported and anchored for WOUB, the PBS station serving Southeast Ohio. WOUB was my first taste of what the news business was all about. While in college, I also completed several internships. My favorite and most memorable experience was at NBC's "Today Show." At the "Today Show" I worked side-by-side with producers, assisting in every aspect of production. Not only did I get the chance to see what it took to put a national morning show on the air, I got to be part of it. Oh yeah, and meeting lots of celebrities was fun too! I also interned at PAX 23 in Akron, Ohio and FOX 8 in Cleveland.
I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. I am the oldest of three girls, and love Ohio State football. I think dachshunds are the cutest dogs in the world, and my goal is to eventually be fluent in Spanish. My favorite part of this job is coming to work everyday with a clean slate. I love telling other people's stories, and would love to tell yours. So if you have any great ideas, send me an e-mail at jennifer.jarrell@abc.com
