Stan Stachak
Toledo is my hometown--well, sort of. I was born here because it's where most families from Temperance, Michigan, go to have children delivered.

My interest in weather did not mature until after I entered the Air Force. I went to the USAF Academy to fly planes but also ended up studying meteorology. When I returned to civilian life, my first job was teaching junior high in Colorado. I also worked for a public utility company there, monitoring air pollution but I eventually decided that I would like to try my hand at working in television.

KKTV in Colorado Springs took a chance and hired me as a rookie TV meteorologist in 1978 and I've been in the business ever since. In 1980 we moved "back" to Toledo and it's been a ball. I love Midwest weather but I do sneak back to the Rockies once a year to get in some serious downhill skiing. I also like racquetball and usually play three times a week. When I get old enough, I may try golf! I am an aviator and a parachutist but most of the time I keep my feet on the ground with my beautiful wife Mary, our seven children and seven grandchildren.
