School closed due to H1N1, rollover accident on I-475 in Maumee, serial rapist in Cleveland...
One local school district remains closed for health reasons. Dundee, Michigan schools and Dundee Head Start were closed today and will remain that way through Monday. District officials yesterday say they hit a 15-percent absentee rate. Other events planned at the school, including an H1N1 vaccination clinic will go on as planned.
A rollover wreck on I-475 near Dussel Drive in Maumee injured a 5 year old child and woman. Police tell 13abc that a truck tried to merge onto the interstate, didn't see a car in his blind spot, and struck the vehicle forcing the car to roll over. The woman and child were taken to Toledo hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was cited.
Police are preparing to start tearing apart walls inside the home of a Cleveland rapist who lived among ten bodies. They're searching for more evidence, possibly more bodies. Anthony Sowell appeared in court this morning for the first time and was ordered held without bond. He's charged with five counts of aggravated murder.
A Sylvania woman who was implanted with the wrong embryo told a national TV audience today that she hopes to visit soon with the baby boy she delivered. Carolyn Savage ended up turning that newborn over to his biological parents. She says she's waiting for her family to finish a run of colds and hopes in the next couple of weeks to visit the child she delivered back in September. The families say a fertility clinic made a mix-up with frozen embryos back in February. Savage says she wants another child, but will opt for a surrogate.Voters approved the majority of school tax issues on the ballot. But one district had mixed results. Eastwood schools in Pemberville got a renewal levy passed, but its bond issue and tax levy supporting a new building failed. Voters rejected the building issue by 568 votes. The superintendent told 13abc the economy and an anti-tax mentality played a role, plus they wanted to consolidate 3 buildings into one central campus. Brent Welker told us they'll be evaluating how to do the best they can with what they already have.
Police in Bowling Green are warning residents to be on guard for a pair of con artists posing as linoleum salesmen. Bowling Green authorities say they have received several complaints of a pair of men talking their way into the homes of residents uninvited. Residents have been saying while one tries to sell their product, the other goes through other parts of the house. In one instance, a purse was stolen and a safe was broken into. One witness described one of the suspects as a white male, about 5-feet 6-inches tall in his late 40's to early 50's with a dark and gray ponytail. The other suspect has only been described in his 20's.
In the wake of an execution controversy, the state Supreme Court has went ahead and set two new execution dates. The death penalty is temporarily on hold as Ohio works to develop new lethal injection policies. Just recently, an execution attempt failed when officials failed to find a usable vein on a death row inmate. The state has since delayed all executions. Today's scheduled executions are on the calendar for May and June of next year.
It's truly a sad ending for three missing college softball players. Their bodies were found inside a Jeep on a North Dakota farm late yesterday. The three girls drove straight into the pond in the dark. The sheriff's department today said it could have been very easy to do if you're not familiar with the area. Signals from the women's last desperate phone calls helped them track down the vehicle.
An auction for a motorized recliner has been declined by e-Bay. Police in Proctor, Minnesota confiscated the chair after someone was driving it while drunk. Now, a new auction is underway as the chair is now being called the DWI Chair. Proceeds will be used by the police department to buy new equipment.

The program will kick off its fortieth season next week with First Lady Michelle Obama on its debut episode. And the characters will be making the rounds promoting the new season. In fact, tonight Big Bird will be staying up late to chat with "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Of course you can catch that on 13abc.
An American Bulldog named Daisy Mae from Columbia, Illinois is getting a lot of attention these days. Daisy Mae gave birth to nearly two dozen puppies. At six weeks old, the Ballard's say all the pups are healthy and ready to be adopted. Now, they're just looking for loving homes.

The FED says economic activity has "continued to pick up" and that the housing market also has grown stronger, a key ingredient to a sustained recovery.
